Do you work on projects aimed at preventing domestic violence? Discover practical strategies today in the newly released national framework.
Approximately one woman is killed each week in Australia due to domestic violence. Our Watch, VicHealth (the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation) and Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety have collaborated to develop the new strategy “Change the Story: A shared framework for the primary prevention of violence against women and their children in Australia” takes a holistic approach by addressing four key cultural areas;
- Condoning violence and “victim blaming”,
- Limiting women’s independence through men’s control of decision-making,
- Strict gender roles enforcing unrealistic and unhealthy expectations of masculinity and femininity,
- Peer relationships between males that encourage aggression and disrespect towards women.
What does this mean for you and your projects? Access the framework today, and see what practical steps you can implement in your domestic violence prevention projects.
