The Western Australian Department of Health invites you to review and provide feedback on the draft WA Health Promotion Strategic Framework 2017-2021 (WA HPSF). This document outlines the Department’s approach to reducing the prevalence of both chronic disease and injury in Western Australia over the next five years.

The primary focus of the WA HPSF lies in the reduction of the lifestyle risk factors contributing most to the burden of chronic disease across the state. These risk factors include overweight and obesity, poor diet, insufficient physical activity, smoking, and harmful levels of drinking.

Of particular interest to the Know Injury team and those working on injury prevention projects across all levels of government, in non-government organisations, as well as research and academic institutions, is the WA HPSF section on preventing injury and promoting safer communities.

The Draft WA HPSF is now open for consultation by the public from both individuals and on behalf of organisations. Know Injury urges all professionals working in the injury prevention sector or on injury prevention projects to review the document and complete the survey.

Your response will contribute to the formal consultation process and feedback will be used to further strengthen the document, ensuring it is a robust policy framework to inform initiatives from WA Health, its partners and stakeholders.
