Know Injury teamed up with the Local Government Community Safety Network working party to deliver the Local Government Community Safety one day Professional Development Event on Friday 4 August 2017 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The one day event provided a professional development opportunity for Local Government Community Safety Officers and aimed to build their knowledge, confidence and skills to address safety, injury and crime prevention issues in their communities. Highlights from the event included Professor Steve Allsop from the National Drug Research Institute who discussed the impact of drug use and response by Local Governments, and Dr Melissa Stoneham from the Public Health Advocacy Institute of WA who presented on the role of Local Governments in reducing alcohol-related harm.
The event was well attended by WA Local Governments and positively received. The event was highly valued for the opportunity to network with colleagues working to address community safety.
