Injury Matters recently released two toolkits focusing on the prevalence of injury in the Wheatbelt and South West. The toolkits highlight the regions injury fatalities, injury hospitalisations and provide suggestions for how we can reduce the local impact of injury.
In the Wheatbelt from 2011 to 2015, road trauma accounted for 106 fatalities in the Wheatbelt, making it the leading cause of injury deaths in the region. Whilst in the South West from 2011 to 2015, the leading cause of injury-related death was suicide (128 fatalities).
Falls accounted for the greatest number of injury-related hospitalisations in both regions from 2011 to 2015, with 3,326 hospitalisations in the Wheatbelt and 5,881 in the South West.
