Drowning Prevention

With the warmer weather upon us and water-based activities increasing, it is vital that we stay safe when around water.

Toddlers are at heightened risk of drowning due to their low swimming ability, minimal awareness of water dangers, relative immobility and dependence on caregivers. Toddler drowning incidents can occur due to a range of circumstances. Fortunately, many drowning instances can be prevented by;

  1. Always keeping watch of children in and around water.
  2. Preventing children’s access to water at all times.
  3. Teaching children to be water confident.
  4. Learning CPR.
